Boldmere School PTA – Event Roles

boldmere pta event roles

School events are one of the ways we help create memorable experiences for children and families at Boldmere.

From discos and fairs to seasonal events and fundraising activities, these events only happen because parents, carers and volunteers give a little time to help bring them together.

The good news is that getting involved does not have to mean taking on everything alone.

Many roles can be shared, supported or broken into smaller parts, making it easier for more people to contribute in ways that suit their time, skills or confidence.

Why Event Roles Matter

Events help:

  • Build community across the school
  • Create memorable experiences for children
  • Support fundraising for school projects and activities
  • Bring parents and carers together
  • Model teamwork, kindness and community spirit for children

The more people who get involved, even in small ways, the easier and more sustainable events become for everyone.

Different Ways To Help

Not every volunteer role looks the same.

Some parents may enjoy leading or helping coordinate an event, while others may prefer supporting behind the scenes or helping on the day itself.

Examples include:

  • Event Lead or Co-Lead
  • Stall or activity coordinator
  • Decorations and setup
  • Social media or communications support
  • Raffle or prize organisation
  • Volunteer coordination
  • Photography or content creation
  • On-the-day event support
  • Packing away and clear up
  • Sponsorship or local business outreach

Many of these roles can be shared between several people.

Fractional Volunteering

One of the most important things we’ve learnt as a PTA is that events work best when lots of people help in smaller ways.

That could mean:

  • Helping for an hour
  • Organising one small part of an event
  • Sharing a skill you already have
  • Supporting one event each year
  • Helping remotely behind the scenes
  • Co-leading with another parent or PTA member

You do not need previous experience to get involved.

Support, guidance and previous event knowledge are often already available.

Event Lead Roles

Event Leads help coordinate and shape school events alongside other volunteers and PTA members.

This does not mean doing everything alone.

Many Event Leads work collaboratively with co-leads, existing PTA members and volunteers to share responsibilities and ideas.

If you enjoy organising, communicating, planning or bringing people together, this could be a rewarding way to help support school life.

A Community Effort

Children notice when adults contribute to their community.

When they see parents and carers helping at events, supporting others and working together, it helps model values such as teamwork, kindness, responsibility and belonging.

Every contribution matters, no matter how large or small.

If you would like to learn more about getting involved in school events in any capacity, we would love to hear from you.

Whether you can help for one hour, support a small task, or take on a larger coordinating role, every bit of support helps strengthen our school community.

Please express your interest in volunteering using this form or contact the PTA for an informal chat.
