Some of the moments children remember most from school happen outside the classroom.
The disco they were excited about for weeks.
The Summer Fair with friends and family.
The seasonal events, games, laughter and shared experiences that help make school feel like a real community.
These events do not happen automatically.
They happen because parents, carers and volunteers give a little time, energy and support to help bring them together.
And one thing we’ve learnt as a PTA is this:
When more people get involved — even in small ways — school events become stronger, more enjoyable and far more sustainable for everyone.
A Great Time To Get Involved
Like many PTAs, several of our long-standing volunteers and committee members will naturally be stepping back over the coming years as children move on through the school.
That means this is an ideal time for new parents and carers to gradually get involved, bring fresh ideas and help shape the future of school events at Boldmere.
Importantly, this is not about replacing people overnight or expecting anyone to suddenly take on everything alone.
In fact, the opposite is true.
We want to build a broader, more sustainable community of support where responsibilities, ideas and roles are shared across more people.
Experienced PTA members are still here to support, guide and help newer volunteers learn the ropes over time.
Summer Fair: Current Opportunity To Help
Right now, we are looking for additional support around this year’s Summer Fair.
This could include:
- Helping coordinate part of the event
- Supporting an Event Lead or Co-Lead
- Organising a stall or activity
- Helping behind the scenes
- Supporting setup or clear-up
- Helping on the day itself
- Sharing ideas, creativity or practical skills
Several existing PTA members have already offered to support and co-lead different areas of the event.
What we are really looking for is more people willing to help shape it together.
Fresh energy and wider involvement are what keep school communities thriving.
See what the event lead role entails.
You Do NOT Need To Do Everything
One of the biggest misconceptions about PTA volunteering is that it requires huge amounts of free time or a major commitment.
Most school events actually succeed because lots of people contribute smaller amounts of help.
That might mean:
- Helping for one hour
- Supporting one event each year
- Taking ownership of one small task
- Sharing a skill you already have
- Helping remotely behind the scenes
- Co-leading alongside someone else
The more people who help a little, the lighter the load becomes for everyone.
Children Notice More Than We Think
When children see adults contributing to their school community, they learn important lessons that go far beyond fundraising.
They see:
- teamwork
- kindness
- responsibility
- community spirit
- belonging
They learn that communities work best when people support each other.
Volunteering is not only about organising events.
It helps model the kind of community we hope our children grow up to create.
Every Contribution Matters
Not everyone wants to lead an event — and that is completely fine.
Some people enjoy organising. Others prefer practical help, creative ideas, social media, setup, fundraising, logistics or simply helping where needed on the day.
Every role matters.
And often the biggest difference comes not from one person doing everything, but from many people each doing something small.
Interested In Helping?
If you’ve ever thought:
“I could probably help with something…”
“I’d like to get more involved…”
“I have ideas…”
“I could support part of an event…”
…this could be a great time to start.
You do not need previous experience, and you would not be expected to do things alone.
Sometimes the best first step is simply having a conversation.
If you’d like to learn more about supporting this year’s Summer Fair or getting involved in future PTA events, we’d love to hear from you.
Either express your interest in volunteering directly or contact us for a parent to parent chat.
Together, small contributions from many people help create something special for our children and wider school community.
